Stranger Things Season 02 episode 5

The fifth episode of Stranger Things 2 and the thirteenth overall is titled "Dig Dug." It was released on October 27, 2017, along with the remainder of season two, and is directed by Andrew Stanton. With a new ally, Nancy and Jonathan trade conspiracy theories while Eleven looks for a former partner. "Bob the Brain" takes on a challenging issue.

Will tells Mike Wheeler that he can see everything the shadow monster does in Hawkins and the Upside Down as Joyce Byers completes piecing together her son's paintings maze. He's scared about this, but Mike says it might be a good thing since Will can now act as their "spy" in the fight against the monster. Mike promises that they won't let it to snoop back when Will inquires about what would happen. Jim Hopper hears shrieking in the tunnels, and then a growth in the wall sprays him with spores, which causes him to cough violently. The route out above him closes up on itself with vines as he falls.

Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan Byers share a hotel room. Nancy laughs as Jonathan asks if she wants the light on or off. She says she feels like she's seen this question before. She remarks that her scar is larger than his when they open their hands to compare their scars from the previous year. When Nancy questions him about his sudden distance, he brings up Will and his family. He points out that she only waited a month, despite her insistence that she waited for him before choosing to reconcile with Steve Harrington. She looks away from him, upset, telling him to turn out the light. Shaken from sleep, Will tells Joyce he saw Hopper in a mortal state.

Lucas Sinclair approaches his father for guidance on handling situations where he offends a female. After apologising, he instructs him to carry out her wishes. He rides off, leaving Claudia Henderson in search of her (dead) cat. By saying the cat was seen someplace outside of town, Dustin manages to entice her away from the residence. After she departs, Dustin prepares for the storm cellar by dressing in hockey gear and laying up a path of slices of bologna. He lets himself inside his chamber, locks D'Artagnan out, and disappears into the shed in his backyard. When Dart accepts the bait and locks him inside, Dustin follows him into the cellar with a hockey stick.

Eleven, meantime, takes a rideshare to the Ives' home, where Becky Ives recognises her as Jane as soon as she mentally opens the front door. Terry is still sitting in her chair, she discovers, whispering over and over the words "rainbow," "three to the right, four to the left," "breathe," "sunflower," and "four-fifty" Jonathan and Nancy take a car to Murray Bauman's Illinois bunker. Nancy starts to find flaws in his conspiracy board when he reveals it to them about the events of 1983.

In order to get Max Mayfield alone in the back office, Lucas bribes Keith to declare the Dig Dug machine at the Palace Arcade as broken. He tells her the truth about what really happened the year before, but only if she agrees to take the chance of knowing the truth, which she cynically does. Will sketches the location in his vision where he saw Hopper, but it's just another blue line. Bob Newby comes to see how Will is doing while Joyce and Mike figure out where they fit in the drawn maze. Joyce lets him in on the grounds that he doesn't ask questions after seeing his love of solving puzzles can be helpful to them. Bob yanks her away out of concern for Will and for her, butBecky's questions are unanswered by Eleven, who laments that Ives' catatonia will not go away. Becky offers Eleven a house, which Eleven accepts when Becky shows her the room that Ives had prepared in case Eleven ever returned home. Eleven follows the flickering lights to Ives, who has a bleeding nose. Eleven notices her mother wants to talk to her as the TV stations alternate till they become static. Bob uses a map of Hawkins to mark up Hopper's territory and compares it to Will's map to see how far apart the landmarks are. When Dustin goes to the Wheeler home to look for Mike, he only sees his father, who is not very helpful. Steve shows up as he's leaving, trying to make things right with Nancy. Dustin halts Steve and inquires as to.
