Stranger Things Season 02 episode 9

 

Stranger Things' seventeenth episode, "The Gate," is the ninth and last of the second season. On October 27, 2017, it made its debut.When the survivors intensify their efforts to neutralise the terrifying entity holding Will captive, Eleven prepares to complete the task she began.

Reunited after nearly a year, Eleven gives Mike Wheeler an embrace. Jim Hopper explains that he had been hiding her the entire time when he informs her that he calls every night, to which she readily acknowledges. Hopper and she cuddle until Mike confronts him for hiding her, furious. In a bedroom in the back, Mike yells at him to let out his anger before realising why Hopper had hidden her. Eleven gives Dustin Henderson and Lucas Sinclair embraces, but dismisses Max Mayfield with a chilly smile. In addition, she gives Joyce Byers a hug and affirms that she is able to close the gate by glancing at the comatose Will. Billy Hargrove visits the Wheeler residence in search of Max and flirtatiously makes eye contact with Karen Wheeler, who notifies.

While Hopper and a distressed Eleven arrive to Hawkins National Laboratory, Joyce, Jonathan, and Nancy arrive at the cabin, tie Will to a bed, and set up a burning fire and multiple warmers. Nancy, Jonathan, and Joyce watch in horror as Will wakes up and starts yelling to be let go and complaining that it hurts. Nancy and Jonathan hold hands while Joyce glances at Will, feeling guilty for making him feel this way. Her determination, nevertheless, gets stronger when she thinks of Bob Newby and their time spent together. Joyce walks about kicking on all the heaters. As a protesting Steve awakens, Max drives Billy's car to Hopper's excavation site, where Dustin persuades him to enter.

As Steve lights up the cemetery, Will's veins become black and he tears out of his shackles, strangling Joyce until Nancy uses a fire poker to burn him. His body gives way to a cloud of black smoke, and the Mind Flayer takes off into the darkness. A healed Will awakens. With the demodogs preoccupied with the burning graves, Jonathan phones Hopper and gives him the go-ahead to shut the gate. He and Eleven then go down into the pit. As they turn to face the gate and start using her powers, Eleven lets go of Hopper's hand and the Mind Flayer's corporeal form materialises in front of her. While the party is running out of the tunnels, Mike falls and nearly gets sucked up by a tendril. Fortunately, his buddies save him. When d'Artagnan confronts them.

Eleven recalls being abused by Martin Brenner and recalls Kali Prasad instructing her to channel her rage into superpowers. The youngsters reach their escape rope just as the gate begins to close and the demodogs gather around it. The demodogs rush by Steve and Dustin as they get ready to give their lives in order to save the others, more focused on stopping Eleven. When the hounds try to attack Hopper, he guns them down, and Eleven remembers opening the gate and seeing Kali's image of Brenner. She feels the Mind Flayer's tendril reaching out to her, and her powers grow so strong that she begins to hover. Eleven forces the Mind Flayer to retreat as the lights across Hawkins start to glow.
